Cut in Two

I stood at a crossroad

I saw a family of four riding through the woods

They suddenly hit a stone and the four fell down.

Bruised as they were, they lay on the ground,

Each cut in two, like pieces of meat;

I couldn’t believe my eyes for I knew them so well,

Please tell me God that this isn’t real?

The dream made me wonder, what it means to be human;

I heard a Voice that said, “Cut in ‘two’ means you make a covenant!”

And then I perceived what it all meant.

There is no relationship when there’s only one - you need the ‘other’.

The stage of life is set, your audience waits, and you are alone;

When you meet them, remember: you have cut a covenant,

To do what’s right, when the world may say it’s wrong,

And most of all, “Reconcile!” - before it’s too long.
